THE YEAR OF THE DRAGON
31 days have passed and the first month of the year is over … I am doing well with my New Year’s resolutions, but to be honest, I have saved just little, read less than I am suppost to, and had been on the internet more than I intended, but anyway, I’m trying to do my best.Guess what, I have a new friend she is Spanish and we met through couchsurfing, she came to Canada to enjoy the snow and do some skying and snowboarding, so it actually worked out pretty good! because I am starting snowboarding this winter, so the deal is I will try to teach her English and show her Vancouver, and she will teach me some snowboarding technique.
As native spanish speakers is obviously that after a few sentences in English, our mouth automatically starts speaking Spanish, the funny thing is to realize the differences in the language from Mexico and Spain, which of course still allow us to have good communication, is been good times!
The case is that Mondays is Ladies Ride Free at Mount Seymour, if you live in Vancouver, this will be happening until March 12, and it only works from 6 pm to 10 pm. Anyway I have ride 4 times this year and I am improving a lot, compare to last year that I coudn’t do anything I now can stop, go down the hill and do the turns so I feel preetty content about it.
But apart from Snowboard Barbara and I been doing other things, on Sunday we went to the Chinese New Years Parade that took place in Chinatown, of course, as you might know 2012 is the year of Dragon.
The Chinese calendar is a calendar combining Solar, lunar and Stem Branch cycles, and the Chinese New Year uses the Chinese Lunar Calendar system.
As a typical Vancouver day it was raining and I forgot to bring stuff to protect my camera but I did take some photos anyway using a plastic bag and umbrella to protect. Here they are.
Thank you for visiting the blog.
Send you lots of love for February
